VII International Student Biomedical Sciences – Biofuzje 2025 – report

From March 28th to 30th, the Faculty of Biology at the University of Warsaw hosted Biofuzje 2025, an international biomedical conference uniting students and researchers from Poland and abroad. Organized by student and alumni scientific societies, such as Koło Naukowe Biologii Medycznej Antidotum, Studenckie Koło Naukowe Mikrobiologii UW, and Warszawskie Stowarzyszenie Biotechnologiczne Symbioza, the event fostered scientific exchange and interdisciplinary collaboration.

The program featured seven plenary lectures, student oral and poster sessions, bioinformatics workshops, and a discussion panel on bridging science and business. Participants shared their research, explored new ideas, and built lasting connections in an inspiring academic setting.

The conference concluded with a special awards ceremony, recognizing outstanding presentations from researchers representing different scientific institutes across Poland. Thanks to the support of Microbiologia Aurea, the American Society for Microbiology, and Kangoomed, we were able to honor the best speech, best poster, and the audience’s favorite presentation. The statuettes, 3D-printed at Makerspace UW with the help of UW Incubator, were a perfect symbol of integration of science, technology, and innovation that defines Biofuzje.

The conference was financed by the “Excellence Initiative – Research University” programme, the Faculty of Medicine UW, the Faculty of Biology UW, Biogenet and A&A Biotechnology.

Biofuzje once again proved that young scientists are shaping the future of biomedicine. We are proud to promote biomedical sciences at the University of Warsaw. Thank you to all participants, speakers, sponsors, and partners. See you next year!
