The Rector’s Distinctions are awards given for outstanding scientific activity, including scientific research and development works, which in a special way contribute to the development and growth of the prestige of the University.

Candidates for the Distinction are proposed through a competition by deans of faculties and heads of organisational units at the University. The lists of candidates are then analysed by a university-wide committee. The Faculty of Biology has nominated four early-career researchers (within 10 years of receiving their PhD) and four senior researchers (more than 10 years after receiving their PhD) for distinction, taking into account their publication and patent achievements.

168 researchers from the University of Warsaw were honoured with the Rector’s Distinctions.
