Dr. Katarzyna Roguz awarded a scholarship under the Bekker NAWA Program

Dr. Katarzyna Roguz from the Botanical Garden has been awarded a scholarship under the Bekker NAWA Program. The goal of the program is to support doctoral students, researchers, and academic teachers in their pursuit of scientific excellence by enabling their academic development at research and academic institutions worldwide.

Dr. Roguz’s research focuses on plant pollination biology, reproductive strategies, and ecological relationships with animals and microorganisms. As part of the scholarship, she will carry out a one-year project entitled “Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow – The Impact of Climate Change and Pollinator Decline on the Interconnectedness of the Floral Microbiome.” The host institution will be Philipps University of Marburg, one of the oldest and most prestigious academic institutions in Germany. The academic supervisor of the project will be Prof. Robert R. Junker, an ecologist studying the evolutionary and ecological interactions between plants, animals, and microorganisms and their impact on biodiversity and ecosystem functions.
