Dean of the Faculty of Biology – prof. dr hab. Krzysztof Spalik

Professor Spalik specialises in the phylogeny, evolution, taxonomy, and biogeography of plants – primarily from the economically important family Apiaceae (umbellifers). He teaches courses in botany, taxonomy, evolutionary biology, and ecological education. He is a member of the State Council for Nature Conservation and two scientific committees of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN) – the Committee on Environmental and Evolutionary Biology and the Committee on Organismal Biology. He also collaborates with the Central Examination Board.

Vice-Dean for Research – dr hab. Anna Ajduk, prof UW

Dr. hab. Anna Ajduk, prof. ucz. specializes in developmental and reproductive biology of mammals, with a particular focus on issues related to fertilization and pre- and peri-implantation development. She has completed several international research internships, including a 3-year postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom. She is the recipient of grants from Foundation for Polish Science, National Science Centre, and National Centre for Research and Development, as well as numerous awards and honors for her scientific achievements. From 2013 to 2017, she chaired the Association of the Foundation for Polish Science Scholars, and from 2017 to 2019, she led Polish Young Academy PAS, of which she was a member during the 2016-2021 term. She is also a board member of the Visegrad Group Society for Developmental Biology and the Polish Society for Biology of Reproduction.

Vice- Dean for Finance – prof. dr hab. Łukasz Drewniak

Experienced microbiologist and environmental biotechnologist, he specialises in bioremediation. For last ten years, he has conducted over ten research projects in these fields.

Vice-Dean for Students Affairs – dr Takao Ishikawa

Dr. Takao Ishikawa specializes in bioprospecting proteins, including enzymes, sourced from Arctic environments. Since 2007, he has served as an assistant professor at the Faculty of Biology, University of Warsaw. Alongside his academic duties, he has accumulated extensive professional experience at the Educational Research Institute (2013–2018) and the Central Examination Committee (2020–2024). Currently, he leads a portion of an OPUS grant project being conducted at the University of Warsaw’s Faculty of Biology, in collaboration with the Faculty of Biology at the University of Gdańsk. Dr. Ishikawa has received several accolades, including the Teaching Award from the Rector of the University of Warsaw, as well as recognitions for his contributions to teaching, awarded by students from the Faculty of Biology. In addition to his academic achievements, he holds leadership roles as vice-director and member of the Program Board of the Science Festival in Warsaw. He also serves as the scientific secretary for the General Committee of the Biology Olympiad. In 2024, he was elected to the Steering Committee of the International Biology Olympiad.
